Pro Tip: Take a quick glance before the year starts to get any materials you don’t normally have on hand and keep them stashed away to pull out as needed throughout the year. This will allow you to quickly place challenges before your students that align with the topics you cover.
Much like what you would get if you purchased a science experiment book for kids, these cards give a simple explanation of the science topic being covered, a clear challenge, and even hints to help students who are feeling stuck. The questions on the back expand learning opportunities by incorporating activities for the arts and mathematics. I appreciate the nature of cards (in that you can leave one in a “center” for students to get to when they have finished their regular work) and that the cards are glossy, so they are somewhat more resilient to spills and wear than a book would be. Overall, we have found this box set engaging and fun. However, I was slightly disappointed that the box was only half full of cards. Perhaps they plan on expanding the collection later on?
