There are as many reasons to choose to homeschool as there are people who choose to do so. I never expected that I would end up homeschooling my children. I was, in fact, a public school teacher before deciding to do so. Sometimes I wonder if it is the right decision for my family, but I think that is what many people go through when truly trying to choose the best for their children.
The good news is, no matter what your reason is for starting to homeschool, your reason to continue to homeschool year after year will change. What better way to get to know your kids (and know yourself) than to step up to the challenge day after day? Am I perfect at homeschooling? Most certainly not. Some days are wonderful from sunup to sundown, and there are others, smooth to start and a battle to finish. Then there are those rare days that people tend to avoid talking about. There are those days you may, at the start, consider “throwaway days”. Let me tell (or remind) you, those throwaway days are something special. There may not be much learning going on in the ways of language arts and arithmetic, but you will for sure learn about yourself and your relationship with your children on those “throwaway days”. If there is anything I have learned on our short homeschool journey, it is that we never really stop learning.
So why start with that? I guess it is because I am not perfect, and I will not pretend to be. You may find, looking through our blog, some areas that you think could use a boost here or there. I humbly welcome your ideas and I hope that you may also gain something from reading our blog in return. We are all trying to do our best for the next generation, please consider subscribing if you would like to take that walk together.
Warmest wishes,
