Happy Mother’s Day to all you hardworking Mamas out there! Here is a plant historically used only for women, so let’s dive in as we learn more about the wonders of the natural world around us…
False Unicorn, otherwise known as Fairy Wand?!…. How could I NOT write about something that uses mythical creatures in its name?! An enchanting plant with an enticing application, false unicorn can be found in the southern United States, in moist and somewhat acidic soil, and grow best in zones 5-8. (In the USA? Find out what zone you are in here)
Though false unicorn does NOT have much scientific study, it was used for some time to help normalize hormones in females. Though it’s application is intriguing, this is one of the plants I would 100% advise against using without working directly with a physician (It may be risky to try false unicorn yourself and should be discussed with a healthcare professional before use). If you do, however, decide to grow and/or use false unicorn yourself, below are a few tidbits to get you started.
TIPS & TRICKS
- Get your seeds from a cultivated plant
- Grow in a pot for a year or two so you can control conditions. False unicorn will be more likely to thrive transplanting into a garden plot after this time.
- Plant seeds 1/2 inch apart

USES
- Balancing excess estrogen, False Unicorn can be used to help with MENSTRUAL CRAMPS, MENOPAUSE, INFERTILITY, SEX DRIVE, and REGULATING MENSTRUATION, which may be the cause of many of the aforementioned complications.
- Reduces HEADACHES
- False unicorn can increase APPETITE and aid in DIGESTION.
- It may help eliminate TAPEWORM from the body.
- DEPRESSION
- May be used as a DIURETIC but can cause irritation in the stomach and intestines.
As always, take care when treating any symptoms at home, and speak with a doctor to make sure you are working with your body and not against it.
Health and love to you all,
