Studying the cultures around the world and at home can be done in SO many ways, but books have always been my go-to when 1. it’s not possible to get “there” and 2. you want to bring a piece of the world into your living room. These books explore the culture of humans and the bits and pieces that create culture.

SERIES:

Food Anatomy

by Julia Rothman

Ever wonder how a flower becomes a fruit? Or how to properly cut a mango? How pasta is made or the short order egg lingo used in diners around the United States? Facts to funny, food anatomy will grow with your kids. With colorful presentation and illustration, food anatomy travels around the world and into your kitchen.

Farm Anatomy

by Julia Rothman

A rural life handbook for beginners. What is a crop rotation? How do you milk a cow and build a bean teepee? What are the different kinds of apples? How many eggs does a hen lay per year and how in the world do you make whole-wheat granola coffee cake? Recipes, the anatomy of bees, step-by-steps, and a TON of information, Farm Anatomy is for anyone interested in living the simple life….or at least anyone who is interested in where all of our food comes from!

The Julia Rothman Collection: Farm Anatomy, Nature Anatomy, and Food Anatomy

If you simply can’t choose in the fantastic series, you can buy the whole collection slightly cheaper than buying each book 1 by 1. The collection comes with 10 prints of Rothman’s beautiful artwork to hang around your homeschool area. I love getting these books for kids’ presents, and parents seem interested in them as well. I highly recommend this series for anyone with a curious cat at home.
